Banner Ads

I think I'm going to reinstall some of my old firewall software.  I'm sick of these stupid banner ads and pop ups.  They're so invasive.

OK, first, ya got the stupid banners with rollover sounds.  We all on myspace have experienced the stupid smiley ads that scream "HELLLOOOOO" and "SAY SOMETHING" at us.  Flipping annoying.

Then, there are the really invasive "floating" banners that either "float into" or suddenly appear in the middle of your browser window, covering up what you are trying to see and possibly causing you to accidentally click it.  Some of these also come with sounds as well, which just make me want to shoot my screen.  The worst are the kind that follow you as you scroll down the page, remaining in your way persistently.

Finally, there are the overly-provocative ads, particularly for dating sites. We've all seen the same ones, i'm sure.  "it's NICE to be NAUGHTY" and "GET BACK in the action". Some guys (and girls) probably don't care about these quite as much, but I work in an elementary school computer lab and quite frankly I'd rather not have some skanky lookin' chick pop up on my screen in a bikini when I'm just trying to check my email.

Then, of course, there are the pop ups (and "pop unders") in seperate windows, crowding the taskbar and flooding your screen, and many of these popups contain the same crap as mentioned before.

So yeah... I've got some software that will completely eliminate banner ads.  I'm going to have to install it again.
