I'll tell you why I didn't get my nap yesterday.

OK so last week I ordered a USB data cable for my LG-VX3200 mobile phone.  It arrived, as you might have guessed, yesterday.  Imagine my excitement.  Finally I would be able to create my own ringtones and backgrounds and more efficiently manage my address book and all that jazz.  Well, I tear open the packaging and read the little instructions (which, by the way, were obviously printed in mass quantities on regular paper and haphazardly hand-cut into little note-sized "notes" to be added to the packaging).  I follow the directions, but my phone isn't detected by the computer.  The software (which, by the way, was not provided by the seller.  The drivers were, but not the application software.  Oh, and the drivers don't seem to do anything)... anyways, the software I used (BitPim) scans for a phone connected to the COM ports on my computer.  Not my USB ports.

After fighting with that for a while I finally called but it was after hours.  I will call again today.  I did, however, email them.

Secondly, there's my issue with my soundcard.  I have a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS.  It's a top-of-the-line sound card.  I can't use it.  It's not being detected on any of my MOBO's (motherboard's) PCI slots.  It hasn't worked ever since I got my mobo back from being "serviced" and "fixed".  Anyway, I had a couple of emails with Creative and just to let you know their service is wonderful.  They are very kind and quite prompt with their email replies.  They suggest I try installing the soundcard on another system.  I really didn't want to do this, but eventually I gave it a try yesterday.  I put the soundcard in my mom's computer, and wouldn't-ya-know-it, works fine.  To double check, I grabbed a couple of other PCI devices and put them in my computer.  Same problem.  The PCI slots aren't picking up anything connected to them.  I'm not sure what is causing this, but the fact that it has been this way since I've had my mobo returned to me from servicing and repair does not sit wel with me.

OK, get this:  The motherboard is made by Gigabyte, and I bought the thing at PC Club.  I was given a 1-year warranty.  Apparently I bought it around the middle of December of '04, because the warranty ended mid-december '05.  This was fine because I had problems in November of '05, less than a month before the end of my warranty.  So I take it in, and there's no problem.  They take care of it for me free of charge.

Here's the problem.  They kept it from me for a whole month.  I got it back somewhere around Christmas, long after the end of the warranty.  This, of course, wasn't a problem, because I already had it taken care of.  So, then I discover that my PC is crashing at random, and I call about that but they say they can't do anything because it's past warranty.  I'm upset but I shrug it off because it ends up being something I can easiy take care of (i just didn't know that at the time) and it wasn't their fault.  So I let it go.  Now i've discovered that the PCI slots are not functioning properly, and that IS their fault.  I called them last night and they said that because it has been more than a year and has exceeded the warranty period, i would have to pay for any service.  I was really upset (but not as upset as I am now that I'm getting into it typing this).  I sent it in before the warranty to get it working and it came back only 'partially' fixed after the warranty.  Whose fault is that?

OK I gotta go... I'm getting really upset now.
